Title: Left-Handed
Post by katzy_z on Nov 27th, 2004 at 10:23am
hey!
i'm soon to be purchasing a ukulele with a pick up in it but i'm left-handed, is it possible to swap the strings around and still get a good sound, obviously not with a cutaway one though?
thanks a lot for your help!
(i'm writting this meesage again, coz now i'm a member!)

Hi Adam,
On most ukes, the nut is notched to match the string size. This prevents buzzing at the nut. You may need a new nut if you switch the strings around, but that's about it. (Plus, there's the challenge of trying to reach the volume controls on the side of the uke)
Any good guitar repairman can make a new nut for you.  Good luck!

well...as long as it's possible, i'm up for the challenge!
the main problem would not be the volume knobs as such, it would be moer the fact that the lead would be up around my elbow ;) ow well!
