James Hill, Raiatea Helm, Led Kaapana, Gordon Mark, Jeff Peterson, David & Dennis Kamakahi, & Aaron Mahi will perform and talk story live on Big Island radio stations on Wednesday, Nov. 9, to promote their appearance at the Kahilu Theatre's 4th Annual Ukulele & Slack Key Guitar Institute. Off island fans may be able to listen in to some of these performances by going to the stations' websites. Times listed are local Hawaiian times.
KCOF, 102.5 FM, Honaunau, Hi., www.kcof.org, will host James Hill sometime in the morning. As of this writing, the ability of KCOF to stream their broadcast over the web is not functioning, but hopefully be back on line when James appears.
KAPA, 99.1 FM (Kona), & 100.3 FM Hilo, will host James Hill, Raiatea Helm, Led Kaapana, Gordon Mark, and Jeff Peterson, beginning at around 5 P.M. KAPA will also be broadcasting live from the Kahilu Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 5 P.M. Sorry, no webcast available.
KHBC AM 1060, www.khbcradio.com, Hilo, will host Dennis & David Kamakahi, & Aaron Mahi at around noon. No streaming here either.
University of Hawaii Hilo radio, radio.uhh.hawaii.edu, an internet only station, will host Dennis Kamakahi, David Kamakahi, Aaron Mahi, & Kalena Silva starting at 2:00 P.M. Kalena is the current director of the Hawaian Studies program at UH Hilo, and played with Dennis & Aaron when they were all in high school. Off island fans can listen in to this broadcast on the web.
The 4th annual Ukulele and Slack Key Guitar institute takes place Nov. 10-13 at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea, on the Big Island of Hawaii, and consists of a series of concerts, workshops, private music lessons, kanikapila, and an instrument display of guitars and ukes crafted by Big Island Luthiers. Go to www.kahilutheatre.org, or call 1-808-885-6868 for more info.
