Title: Gluing Tip
Post by Jeff B on Feb 4th, 2008 at 5:59am
I edge glued a pair of soundboard plates the other day and remembered that the Hana Lima 'Ia manual states to use newspaper on both sides of the glue joint to keep it from being glued to the work surface and any weights, etc. you put on top of the joint.

However, if you use newspaper, it usually sticks to your joint and you have to scrape and sand it off - it could ruin the area around the joint or the inks might run into the wood. An old trick I use from my model airplane building days is wax paper instead of newspaper. It keeps the glue in the joint and peels off easily when the joint is dry, leaving no paper residue behind.

This works with just about every kind of glue, including the super glues. Trust me, I just did it and it worked like a charm. :)
