Title: Nut Slotting Files
Post by amaloon on Dec 29th, 2009 at 10:16am
Can anyone tell me what sizes of files I need for cutting the slots in the nut.  Stew-mac has several sizes and if I'm going to spend the money of course I'd like to get the right sizes.  Or do I need to buy these?  What is everyone else using?  Thanks

Amaloon:
I know the cheap way to do it is to use welding torch tip-cleaners. You use a micrometer to measure the string diameter and find a tip-cleaner slightly larger.

I recently bought a set of three files which are good for string-guides (zero fret) and mando bridges. I expect that they are available at Harbor Freight.
