Everybody knows the big names of luthiery.  Schneider, Fox, Boaz, Smallman, etc...  but has anyone heard of:

                 Michihiro Matsuda

He's one bad ass shaper!  To check out some of his work go to Frets.com or just type his name into a search engine.  This guy does some interesting heel, headstock, floating fretboard, and bridge work.  Nice clean stuff.  Try sample dis: http://www.guitarnation.com/matsudasteel1.htm

If anyone knows more seldom heard of luthiers and want their work to be seen. Post um!

Shoots, aJ

No doubt about it he has some killer looking instruments.  One of my favorite unique builders would be Fred Carlson.  His work is amazing.  Take a look at http://www.beyondthetrees.com

prepared to be amazed  Tongue

Shocked Whoa  Roll Eyes   Where can we hear someone play one of those hybird instruments!?  Geez, how do you learn to play a "24-string Harp-Sympitar" in the first place? Ha ha ha, wow!  This guy really is crazy.    I love it

Wonder where he stores all his different bending forms.  So many different shapes....truly amazing.

I have seriously pondered building a 6/4 string combo uke- those are some wild machines on both sites Tongue

Hey Asa... You don't have to play all 24 strings.  Most are drones and simple vibrate to add "color" to the tone.  Keeping them in tune might be a royal pain!

Hey Mike, don't know if you've seen this but, looks like Boaz is finally shaping a Kasha ukulele.  Looks to be Brazilian Rosewood back/sides, and some kinda Spruce top.
...
...
He even mentions working with you and 'Uncle' George Majkowski on drawing up the Kasha ukulele plans.  Pretty cool stuff, check it out.
