mother of pearl rosettes
Feb 10th, 2011 at 8:34am

Hi I just bought some mother of pearl for the rosette on my next build. Ive never worked with it before. Can someone tell me if I can sand it?
Im going to put black white black white purfling around it then sand the purfling to the same height as the M.O.P.
Im sure I will sand everything in the process. Is it OK to sand the Mother of pearl ??
Thanks in advance.
Daniel

I have sanded and scraped MOP, but definitely wear a dust mask, it is not good for you to breathe.

I have sanded MOP, but I found scraping the plastic purfling with a standard scraper blade to be very effective.
