Nintendo says Wii U may not be too much more power

I dont know that we would be able to sit here and say that its going to necessarily dramatically outperform the systems that are out now, Miyamoto told GameSpot. Its part of the balance that we strike in terms of trying to find entertainment that is new and unique.

The result? The Wii U may outperform the current generation of consoles, but not by much.

But how much does that really matter? As the Wii has no doubt proven, a lot can be done with comparatively limited hardware. Likewise, having a console appear at an affordable price point is more valuable for its longterm success than the number of enemies that it can render at one time.

Still, with the next PlayStation and Xbox less than two years away, Nintendo may be taking a huge risk that the Wii U wont be completely overshadowed by the next generation of consoles.

This latest bit of news comes after a number of similar clarifications by Nintendo on the Wii Us capabilities. Not only will the console lack DVD and Blu-ray playback, but Nintendo is inching away from making it capable of supporting more than one touch screen controller at once.

Our development team managed to get hold of the 0401 firmware, and have now added support for it.
