How Classes Work:
All classes are held on Saturday beginning at 9am until
approximately 2pm at our Shop. (718 Puuhale Road)
During the 10 session course students will learn our
8 phase method of ukulele making using jigs and tools
supplied by Hana Lima 'Ia. Each student will construct
a 4-string Tenor 'ukulele. All components and materials are included. (Sapele, Walnut, Bubinga)
Engleman Spruce or Western Red Cedar Soundboards optional. Gotoh SGM Mini Tuners, and Hilo strings
are included.

Summer Intensive Session:
This session will be held daily, Monday thru Friday for
two consecutive weeks. There will be only one Accelerated
session per year limited to 6 people. Cost is $600.00
with a $100 non-refundable deposit, no tool requirements.
Summer courses are for mainland or outer island students who cannot attend the 10 week course. Plan to buy
lunches at the local Kalihi eateries.
June 18th through June 29th
Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
(daily for 2 weeks)
Third Session:
July 14th through September 15th
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
(every Saturday for 10 weeks)
Fourth Session:
October 6th through December 15th Saturdays 9:00 a.m.
to 2:00 p.m.

Cost: $575.00 (Includes Materials, plans, and book)
Students will make a 4 string Tenor Ukulele from
Sapele or Walnut.
Rosewood (bubinga) fretboard and bridge, Gotoh SGM Mini
Tuners, and Hilo strings included.
Students will learn the Spanish Style neck-to-body connection
and fan bracing pattern. Full-scale plans and 'Ukulele
construction manual included.

Balance of session cost will be due on our first session

Students will be required to bring: assorted sandpapers,
Tru-oil for finishing, and 1/2" Chisel.
All students will be provided with a full-scale tenor
Ukulele Plan and a course outline.
Hana Lima 'Ia is located in Kalihi about 5 minutes from
the airport, 10 minutes from downtown and 20 minutes
from Waikiki. Bus service to town or Waikiki is within
walking distance (2 blocks). Hana Lima 'Ia's shop is
fully equipped and now class is air-conditioned!
