MEDITATIONS ON A CLASSICAL GUITAR
In Sergei's domain the norm is total immersion.
At our workshop , 18 hour days were the norm....my
God...you wake up lovin the smell of sawdust in the
morning..ok more truthfully...the smell gets better
after the first sip of that requisite cup of joe.
The shop setup is really not out of the ordinary.
Workstations are equipped with handtools, measuring
devices and good overhead light. The chisels and handplanes
are sharp and scrapers made from hacksaw blades and
other found steel objects abound. The power shop tools
are modest...tablesaw, several bandsaws, a Performax
16/32 sander, jointer, belt sander and drill press.
 |
The portable tools and the many requisite routers
and laminate trimmers, drill gun,and orbital and reciprocating
palm sanders. A compressor and spray gun is used for
lacquer finishing along with a portable grinder/buffer
for polishing.
|
In Sergeis hands these tools perform....with
an efficiency and ease that comes from experience
and repetition. Lesson one...know your tools and keep
them maintained.
